Balneário Camboriú’s folklore is basically the same as the other coastal regions of Santa Catarina (Azorean folklore). Boi-de-mamão (the plot is about the death and resurrection of an ox).
Through traditional rhymery, the narrator calls out characters like the small horse, the snake, the bear, the monkey, ‘Bernúncia’ and ‘Maricota’, who start to get into mischief.
The manual arts fairs and shops are concentrated in Barra District, and the handicrafts are made from bones, coconut shells, clay, raw stone, thread, jute and embroiders. The typical cuisine has seafood (clam, octopus, squid, shrimp, crab) and fish as its base.
The language spoken is the Brazilian Portuguese, but the the Azorean accent was preserved.
